Roar profile: Samantha Snyder

Q: Hey Sam, what a great shoot we just had. I guess the first question would be where are you from?

A: I lived in central Florida for a few years, and I’ve lived in Jacksonville for about 12.

Q: Where do you go to school and what are you studying?

A: I go to Jacksonville University, I’m majoring in communications and my specialization is broadcast journalism.

Q: When do you graduate?

A: I’ll be graduating next year, 2011.

Q: How did you get involved with the Roar?

A: I’ve always danced, for about 20 years now. I always had season tickets to the Jaguars and I love the Jaguars. I never cheered before but I thought I’ll try it and now I get to combine two things that I love. Jaguars and dance.

Q: How many years have you been a Jaguars cheerleader?

A: This is my second year.

Q: Do you any sports?

A: I actually went to a school that didn’t have sports, so I have no hand/eye coordination. The only sport I did was dance.

Q: What are you hobbies?

A: I’m a broadcast major at school. I love filming, editing. I also love doing crafts, picture frames and jewelry.

Q: Do you have an inspiration or a person that inspires you?

A: Growing up I had a dance teacher named Dorise Mackintyre. She just loved dance, she didn’t do it for the money. We’d pay her like $10/yr or something crazy like that, and she’d put on recitals for us because she just loved the art of dancing. If I could touch people the way she touched me that would be great.

Q: Favorite restaurant?

A: La Napolera. I love Mexican food.

Q: Favorite type of food?

A: Chicken.

Q: Do you cook and if you do, what do you like cooking?

A: I like cooking pasta.

Q: Favorite treat?

A: Starbucks coffee (marble mocha macchiato) and sour patch kids.

Q: Favorite band?

A: The Doors.

Q: Something most people don’t know about you?

A: That I had never cheered before. It was scary to learn how to hold a pom pom. There are some major differences from dance. I’m trying to look like I know what I’m doing.

Sam, I think you?ve got us all convinced that you know what you?re doing and you sure make it look easy. Thanks for spending the afternoon with EU Jacksonville and we hope to see you back next season!
